Ok, Christmas has begun in Tallulah and the Wish-List book is ready for you...

Wish-List card waiting to be personlised for you.

We are always amongst the last to decorate up on Cross Street and this year was no exception, but it's official, the fairy lights are sparkling, the mistletoe is hanging, old school Christmas tunes playing and lots of vintage tartan ribbon is in the window (no room for an actual tree so we improvise!)
Guess what Tallulah thinks is the perfect Christmas gift to give is? You've got it, Lingerie, and using Tallulah's Wish-List service is the best way for you to receive your perfect Christmas present- it feels decadent and generous for the gift-giver, and it ensures you'll find exactly what you want under that Christmas tree. After all, playing the guessing game when it comes to the very intimate and personal decision of which silk and lace chemise to slip into, can end in a disaster, something best avoided on the morning of the 25th! Lingerie is a gift appreciated by both, so whether you're a giver or a receiver -wink wink- make it the perfect gift with lingerie.

It is simple to use and even easier to let your 'Santa' know you have a list on the go in Tallulah to make perfect present shopping hassle free.
1. Swing by the boudoir on Cross Street- no appointment needed.
2. Try on some of your desirable lingerie pieces.
3. Let Tallulah keep details for you.
4. You leave with a spring in your step and a very handy 'Wink Wink Nudge Nudge' personal card to leave laying around.
Then your 'Santa' can pop into the boudoir and choose from your selection- so you will be receiving still a surprise, just one that fits and you want, perfect wouldn't you say?!

Looking forward to seeing you
and helping you create your Wish-List,
even naughty girls get lingerie treats.

Lots of festive holiday love to you,
from Tallulah x

It's funny, I'm trying to think what I would be doing if Tallulah didn't exist, and I honestly have no idea. I never set out in the lingerie world, but had always loved it way before Tallulah was even a sparkle in my eye. I feel incredibly lucky, happy and privileged to be where I am and have what I have today and able to follow my dream. It has been hard but worth every tear, sound of laughter and love over the years.

I am very proud of Tallulah, but it wouldn't be so great if it were not for you, Tallulah's wonderfully sexy (and practical) customers.
Thank You.
Tallulah xx

Cheers x

A Sad End to an amazing week...

As I write this blog post my heart is heavy and full of sadness for the horrid events that happened in Paris last night. This week has been full of fun, love and laughter for Tallulah and I planned to share with you the weeks events but before this, please
PEACE NOT WAR.

image from United Nations.

Well let me begin with Thanking each and everyone of our wonderful customers that helped Tallulah celebrate her 12th year. To the customers that swung by the boudoir and others further a field that sent lots of birthday wishes, each and every ones love was felt. Sophia and I stayed late on the Friday night drinking, laughing and helping you ladies (not that our ladies need much help and encouragement when it comes to lingerie shopping!), then the fun continued in an even bigger fashion on Saturday. Flowers and cards were bought in, lots and I mean lots of bubbles were drunk and my heart was brimming with pride and love for Tallulah and for the support and encouragement I get regularly from so many of our Tallulah customers. Thank You so much, you know who you all are, every single one of you! I still can not believe it has been 12 Years.

Then on to the next exciting event of the week, The book launch of 'Islington On A Plate' on Monday night . A few months back, very flatteringly I was asked to donate a recipe to a charity cookbook supporting Action Medical Research. The book is full of wonderful recipes and all are donated from Islington celebrities and long standing shop keepers- hence Tallulah being asked to help. It took a while for me to decide which recipe to donate, I love cooking, in fact it is another passion of mine, I didn't want to be too obvious or healthy so my recipe is something with sausages as I love to eat sausages (wink wink). Please help to support Action Medical Research, they are an amazing charity that funds research to combat diseases which devastate the lives of many babies and children. It relies entirely on public donations to do its important work. One can purchase this fab cookbook from Tallulah, doesn't cost much and every single penny is given to the charity.

I went along to the glamorous event with my glamorous friend Danielle. The book launch was held in Fredericks, a long standing family run restaurant in Camden Passage. I hadn't been there for a  while and had forgotten how glamorous it is (the word glamorous has been used a lot here, apologies but if you have been to Fredericks you would understand!). The last time I went was with Danielle for her birthday meal, and after Monday night we have promised to go back for drinks at the beautiful bar very soon. Seems like its the place I go with her, not a bad place really!
What was particularly wonderful was that the room was really rather filled up with Tallulah customers, the worst part is that I am absolutely terrible with names, but I do remember bra sizes, but this can be a little embarrassing sometimes as i can't say "Oh hi 32E, how are you?" hehe! Such a great evening and for such an amazing cause. Looking forward to seeing you a cookbook or 2.

On to the final part of Tallulah's mad busy fun filled week, the awards. The Stars Underline Best Shop Awards are literally the Oscars/Emmys/Baftas every awards rolled into 1, and what makes them so special is that us shops can not nominate themselves unlike most awards in the retail sector. Each shop is nominated by people within the lingerie industry and it is a privilege to just be nominated  let alone to be a finalist. Tallulah was a finalist for the Best Concept Store, we are very lucky to have won this particular award before.
The evening was held down on the Southbank in the Globe theatre. I went to see Sanchia in a play here earlier in the year, never knew about the hidden party venue- it was incredible, a twinkling fairy light and candle light up room, with a magical tree in the middle. Maria and I started the evening off with some nice cocktails before heading to walk up the red carpeted venue for the champagne reception. the dinner was delicious as was the conversations, oh and the people watching was just incredible...i can't say anymore on that!

I wore my favourite outfit at the moment everything can be bought in Tallulah and take the Underwear As Outerwear look very seriously. Marjolaine silk chiffon trimmed in lace topped with silk velvet and tassel's.

I hope you have had a wonderful love and fun filled week too.
PEACE NOT WAR.
LOVE NOT HATE.

Until next time, sending lots of lingerie love to you. T x

Cocktail hour

I was first introduced to the utterly divine St-Germain liqueur through the equally divine Michelle from Shell Belle Couture. Whilst visiting the boudoir a little while ago she handed me this beautiful bottle. It was love at first sight just. I know packaging is not everything, and we shouldn't 'judge a book by its cover' but I was in love with this drink before even trying it! The bottle is just gorgeous and looks so pretty sitting in my drinks cabinet. As it turns out it tastes truly scrumptious too! I have since been obsessed with it (Thanks very much Michelle) and have tried all sorts of cocktails with it being the main ingredient, but the original is my favourite...so far.
According St-Germain, the elegant liqueur house in France,
To live the life of a bon vivant, one must learn to adopt a modicum of insouciance and elegance. Beginning with the apéritif. The apéritif's purpose is to stimulate ones appetite and prepare for the inevitable joys to come. Stimulate, not inebriate. To accomplish this worthy and appreciable aim can be easily achieved by the following;
THE ST-GERMAIN COCKTAIL
2 measures Champagne
1 1/2 measures St-Germain
2 measures Club Soda

Fill a tall Collins glass with ice. Add Champagne first, then St-Germain, then Club Soda, stir and garnish with a lemon twist. This order is essential to a traditional St-Germain classic cocktail.

Something beautiful and delicate from the Shell Belle collection to float around in whilst sipping my St-Germain cocktail would be this Lace fishtail slip from the new collection 'Love story'. It is due to be delivered any day now, I can't wait, it will be beautiful worn as an under layer to my  longer length winter dresses to. Look how decadent the bottle is, looks like I need a new bottle, its nearly finished oops, only a drop of the elderflower nectar is left by the looks of it!

On my last trip to one of my favourite places to visit some of my favourite people we visited this now one of my favourite bars.
PDT- aka Please Don't Tell in the East Village. Not such a secret anymore...oh my, if you are ever in New York City, I highly recommend you have a cocktail (or 2 or 3 or...) in this hidden bar. It is how I imagine the traditional speakeasy joints were back in the roaring 1920s. One of the most exciting parts of visiting this place is the entrance. When we first turned up outside (bear in mind we are all dressed up for our Saturday night out) we were in front of a hot dog shop- the equivalent to one of London's dodgy kebab places. Small, dingy, dirty, I could go on...But then the exciting part happens, but this part only if you have made a reservation and luckily enough my darling friend had. The telephone line opens at 3pm on the day and you book your table for that night- it took 45 minutes and trillions of redials, but a booking was made! So we gingerly entered the dodgy hot dog shop and headed to the telephone booth on the left, picked up the phone, gave our name, we were allowed to enter. Once in we drank our way  through the entire cocktail list, for the life of me I cannot remember what was drunk, I do remember big ice cubes and that the cocktails were delicious. It was a wonderful night, we finished the glamorous drinking off with some pizza (not hot dogs)! Below is a picture of the actual telephone you ring for entry.

As I have mentioned before, and if you are a follower on any of Tallulah's social media; Instagram Face Book or Twitter you will be more than aware of my love for the beautiful silk gowns from Independent Canadian silk company Christine that Tallulah is very privileged to be the only European stockists of. This autumn the colour palette from the collection is rich and sensual jewel-like  tones, here is a picture of the gorgeous Peacock silk trimmed in Midnight lace. This is the sort or outfit I relax at home in, At the end of a long day either in the boudoir, out and about viewing new collections or simply running errands I cannot wait to get home just for my second outfit change of the day, and one of my many Christine gowns are my go to most evenings. I'm thinking a warming Japanese Whiskey would suit my mood tonight, some sort of cocktail with Nikka Whiskey in it. Being introduced to Japanese Whiskey last Christmas was an amazing experience. I always insisted on not liking Whiskey and BAMMMM along comes Nikka Whiskey From The Barrel (Thanks again Sanchia)! It was created back in the 1980s for the Japanese market, Nikka From The Barrel is a blend of two single malts and a grain whiskey and it is sexily superb.
If you are yet to try it, please, I encourage you to have a little nip in a beautifully heavy tumbler, either straight or over ice with a splash of water which helps to bring the flavour subtly out. Honest, it is no normal Whiskey.

Below is a fresh bottle I have at home ready to be opened and slowly sipped in front of an open fire tonight. The bottle is sleek and masculine, no fuss or soft curves, the complete opposite to the St Germain opulent and dramatic bottle.

Keeping the glamorous 1920s theme- May I introduce you to
these beautiful handmade in the UK Ethical Candles. Something that I will be burning not only in the boudoir in the chilly autumn months but at home whilst sipping my cocktails. I love all the scents but particularly the Tbilisi and are available from the boudoir in 4 beautiful scents TBILISI-Pomegranate,Tarragon & Walnut, EL CAPITAN-Amber Cedar & Rosewood, SAMADHI- Karpura,Tulsi & Rose and SWEET BEGINNINGS- Lavender, Manuka Honey & Cocoa.
The storm is on its way, and I can't wait to go home for a cocktail or 2 and to slip into something more comfortable. Whatever you are doing this evening, hope its wonderfully divine.
Until next time-
T x

Silence is golden…

Hello Lingerie Lovers, apologies in the long silence over the summer. I’ve no idea where the days have disappeared. It didn’t feel like too many of those long lazy days leading into hot sticky nights were had here in the UK, and now the trees are changing colours and decorating the floors with they're shedding golden leaves leading us into autumn my favourite season.

Image found on pixcooler.com

Im not mad on summer fashions to be honest, I love the heat and the sun of the season, but only when on holiday where I can sip cocktails and dip my toes into the rolling waves to cool off.
I much prefer to layer up, starting with my lingerie, then adding the hosiery choosing from stockings, stay ups or tights then top the foundations off with a lovely silk slip like this one pictured below from Vivis, the Italian silk fashion house. I love the shape, it cups the breasts nicely and has a slight A-line to the skirt part, and is a great heavy silk helping it to fall nicely and trimmed in gorgeous lace, perfect to sneak out under my outerwear hem line. In the boudoir we always have this slip in at least 2 colours.
As I mentioned before, I love to layer and the autumn is perfect for this, a sheer cashmere wrap on top of my lace blouse and then top with a leather biker jacket. The layers can be peeled off if necessary which can also come in handy-if you know what I mean Wink Wink!

Over the summer amongst others that I re-fitted was this one lovely lady, it turned out she was a journalist, I found this out afew days later whilst catching up on my inbox she had sent me an email complementing the service (and lingerie) that she experienced whilst in Tallulah and was planning on writing a feature on Tallulah. As you can imagine, this bought a huge smile to my red stained lips, I read on to find out she wanted to write about her wonderful and unique time in Tallulah and the amazing choice of stock she had offered to her for the Financial Times, How To Spend It magazine.
As you know, we do not advertise, or pay anyone to write about Tallulah, and it is such a great feeling when someone wants so share their Tallulah experience for real over a cup of tea or a glass of fizz in with girl friends or in the media. It is such an honour and privilege to have this, everyone that enters the boudoir gets treated exactly the same, weather you are Press, an A lister ( or B or C…) or a ‘regular’ yummy mummy. Word of mouth is the best press, and there is nothing like a real life experience shared.
Below is the link, have a read, see what you think.

Im going to apologise again, I started this blog of saying sorry, now I'm saying it again...
Sorry- enough blowing my own trumpet, I'm off to get ready for an event that Tallulah is collaborating with a neighbour tonight. Maybe details will follow.

Until next time x

New season and new collections, who said lingerie is seasonal...

Buying has started again in the world of Lingerie, we are viewing collections and placing orders for Spring/Summer 2016, just like in the Ready to Wear fashion world, although I do struggle with this concept of Lingerie being seasonal. If you want to wear soft blush in winter, deep gem colours in the summer or florals in the fall why have the fashion world dictate to you whats seasonal for your undergarments. But I do have to follow the rules sometimes and this is one of those times and twice a year I place the vast majority of beautiful lingerie, loungewear, silks and swimwear orders that will scantly decorate the boudoir for the next few months. Although the majority of orders are dealt with like this, every week I place top up orders, and place the customer orders that have been taken that week in the boudoir. Offering this service is what sets Tallulah and other independent lingerie boutiques apart from the big soul-less and life-less department stores who are unable to offer this personal ordering service. Most of the time we have a collection in one colour, but it is available to order in many other colours, so we go through the lookbooks and catalogues with our customers and choose the perfect shade of Chantilly lace to support and look pretty or that will go perfectly under a particular outerwear outfit, making it the perfect foundation wear.
Although the vast majority of the orders are placed twice a year, they do not all arrive in the boudoir at once. I place them in a way that there will always be something new and exciting for our loyal Tallulah customers that visit the boudoir every month, something new to wink at them when they enter and go weak at the knees as they leave with their purple bag sealed with cream ribbon full of lingerie lushness.

In Tallulah this summer from Miss Mandalay and Rosa Faia decorating the boudoir with one of Tallulah's vintage blue suitcases.

Im starting the buying season off with swimwear, I have to admit… not my favourite collections to buy at all. There is no lace, silk or any of the embellishments that make my heart skip a beat when I see the collection for the first time or when it finally arrives into the boudoir, but it is important to have a beautiful well-fitted bikini or sexy and suitable for the occasion swimsuit, lets face it that when prancing around in public wearing practically nothing its best to do this showing off our best features and attributes hence a well cut and great fabric swimwear trousseau. Miss Mandalay is always great for the E cup and above (going to a GG) bikinis, nice under-wired halter tops always with a choice of bottoms and with great prints. For the suit it has to be the fantastic MiricleSuit and with their tag line being (said in an over exaggerated twanged American accent) “Look 10lbs lighter in 10 seconds” who wouldn’t want one of these?! Im thinking of having a glance at the Seafolly collection this season, I know its widely available- as in it can be bought with ease online and from the dreaded department stores, but I’m really quite liking the look of the collection on offer…You will just have to wait and see what choices I make for Tallulah. Every year in the summer I visit some of my dearest friends in one of my favourite places in the world, Venice. They have a rather sexy speed boat, so we go out every day and pitch up at the local beach and just relax. Now as we know the Italians are known for their trendy trend setting fashion ways, so every year I take my ‘boat outfits’ very seriously and make sure I pack a few new bikinis so I know first hand how important a well-fitted swimwear wardrobe is, and if you hadn’t guessed by know, Tallulah is all about me! Below is the house we stay in, its just amazing. The shutters are a similar shade of emerald green to the Simone Perele lingerie set I am about to introduce you to ...

Very excitingly new collections arrived from the gorgeous Simone Perele this week. Mezmerising Emerald lace is the new colour in one of Tallulah’s top selling collections called ‘Celeste’. Infact if you are a regular Tallulah customer, chances are you have had this in at least one of the colours it has been offered in the past. We always have in stock the ivory, black and ’nude’ and due to this collection available in 30 backs it really is a great seller for us.

Another collection to arrive recently is ‘Backstage’ a new one from Simone Perele in the most amazing deep ink navy blue. I really love navy lingerie, it is a great alternative to the traditional black, please do not take that out of context thou, I love black lingerie too! But something about this collection actually makes my heart have a little flutter, it must be something to do with the colour, the embroidery, the shell like scalloping edge and soft fine quilting detail of diamond shapes, it is also available to order in beautiful blush and to me this just puts the 1920s in my mind. It has an unpadded half cup and padded plunge shape bra with a couple of choices on the bottom, then the piece thats makes this collection so special is the deep waist-cincher style suspender belt. I do wish a belt was offered in more lingerie sets. The thing that is particularly great with this belt is that it can be worn as outerwear as a waspie over a dress or 2 piece.

Just look at that beautiful scallop quilted detail and embroidery, finished with a bow in the middle.

Hope you have a wonderfully hot, sticky and sweet week as it looks like that great big golden ball will be in the skies. Be sure to swing by the boudoir to see for your self the beautiful new collections that have arrived this week or to look through any of the look books to place your very own order, chilled water will be served all week, and the boudoir is on the un-sunny side of the street so its always cool for when your ready to strip off! Here is Something sweet from Venice for you to suck on (wink wink).

So until next time, T x
